MEET US IN ASBURY PARK, NJ
FLYING
If you are flying to New Jersey, book a flight into any of the local airports: JFK (NY), LGA (NY) or EWR (NJ). Congestion and delays can be pretty bad so we recommend flying in on Friday, to leave room for any unexpected circumstances.
DRIVING
From NY: Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 11. Then, take the Garden State Parkway south to Exit 102 and bear right off the exit ramp onto Asbury Avenue. Continue east following the signs to Asbury Park. From PA: Take I-95 North to I-195 East to Route 18 North to Route 66/Asbury Avenue East. Then, take Asbury Avenue East and follow signs to Asbury Park.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
You can get to Asbury Park by train and bus depending on we're you're coming from. By Bus: NJ Transit Buses service Asbury Park. For schedules and fares, visit the NJ Transit website. THINGS TO DO
EAT YOUR WAY AROUND TOWN
Porta - We may or may not be involved in a love affair with Porta’s neopolitan-style pizza. This exact Porta is where Jillissa and Mark went to celebrate after she met his parents for the first time!
Talula’s - When it comes to pizza our philosophy is the more, the merrier! Talula’s sources local dairy for their gourmet pizzas. And they’re extremely allergy friendly.
Catbird - This BYO beer and wine restaurant has gorgeoud outdoor seating and––you guessed it––wood-fired pizza!
Nettie’s - A self-proclaimed “red sauce joint serving elevated nostalgia,” Nettie’s serves must-taste Italian fare. Reservations required.
Barrio Costero - This modern (read: cool AF) Mexican restaurant features sharing plates made with only quality ingredients.
Cross & Orange - This bistro’s menu has something to please even the pickiest of eaters. Just make sure you try a craft cocktail while you’re there!
Iron Whale - This boardwalk-adjacent bistro is located right next to the ocean. Naturally, their specialty is seafood.
HIT THE BEACH
The Asbury Park Boardwalk and beach is open daily. Beach passes are not required after Labor Day. Lifeguards will not be on duty and swimming is technically prohibited, but you can enjoy the boardwalk and chill out on the sand.
ADMIRE THE ART
Locals Art Space - This community-driven non-profit gallery boasts handmade original art and prints as well as a unique space for exhibitions, solo shows, classes, workshops, and special events.
Parlor Art Gallery - This gallery prioritizes unique exhibits that reflect New Jersey’s art community. Both young, talented artists and established international artists alike are on display.
Whitepoint - Formerly known as Exhibit No. 9, this hybrid gallery and studio features contemporary art with a focus on larger scale works.
HIT THE BARS
The Wonder Bar - This Asbury Park landmark is not your average beach bar. Plus, it hosts the famous Yappy Hour–dedicated time for humans and dogs alike to drink, mingle and chill.
Asbury Ale House - The Asbury Ale House is located on the main drag. With a rotating menu of local beers, burgers and other bar bites, a visit to Asbury Park isn’t complete without a stop here!
Watermark - This beachside bar was founded as a return to the classic cocktail bar. With an emphasis on socializing and placed by the ocean, every drink here is enjoyed best with good conversation.
Johnny Mac House of Spirits - Dubbed Asbury Park’s favorite bar, Johnny Mac is a classic pub that offers a free pizza with every drink. Yeah, you read that right!
Bond Street Bar - Not quite a pub and not quite a party, this dive bar serves classic libations as well as a killer grilled cheese!
Asbury Park Distilling Co. - Asbury Park's first distillery since prohibition serves and bottles Gin, Bourbon Whiskey, Vodka, Aquavit and Espresso Limoncello and PISAM all on premises.
HAVE A BALL
Silverball Retro Arcade - Try your hand at more than 200 pinball machines, 80’s video games, Skee Ball, Air Hockey (and more!) manufactured between 1950 and today.
Asbury Lanes - This concert venue, diner and bowling alley all in one is a must-go in Asbury. Bonus points for it being right next door to the wedding venue!
Hot Sand - Looking to do something super special in Asbury? Visit Hot Sand and take one of their glass blowing classes and take home your special creation.
